The newly formed Sanford Spinners will join the impressive Old North State League in 2021 becoming the 12th team for the league in only their third season. The Spinners are a reincarnation of the Spinners of the old Class D Minor League Tobacco State League (1946-1950). The Spinners will play at Tramway Park at Southern Lee High School, although the team hopes to eventually move to the planned Lee County sports complex. Funding for the multi-million dollar complex was recently approved in the 2020 Lee County bond referendum.
Jeremy Palme, current JV coach for Lee County High School, will be the teams’s first head coach.
Regular season league play will begin on June 2nd and end on July 24th.
The Tramway Park field is a park with solid dimensions reaching 380′ to center and approximatley 310′ down the lines. Ample parking is available and site lines are good. Importantly, the field is equiped with lights for night play.
The Old North State League will play 30 games, 15 at home and 15 away. Tickets for single games will cost $6, and double header tickets will go for $10. Team merchandise is also available. Schedule.
