With the new Professional Baseball Agreement (PBA), that reduced the number of MiLB franchises by some 40 teams, Major League Baseball has transformed the former Appalacian League from a Rookie league to a collegiate summer league with teams in Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia, and North Carolina. The wood bat league is designed for rising freshmen (high school grads) and sophomores with a typical summer season that runs from June to August. The league is part of Major League Baseball and USA Baseball’s Prospect Development Pipeline.
MLB has rebranded every teams to remove the former MLB team affiliations. The rebranding is now complete with a lineup of new names and logos.
Here is the new lineup for 2021.
