Zack Wheat, a Brooklyn favorite of the teens and twenties, is unanimously elected to the Hall of Fame by the Veterans Committee. Wheat, a .317 hitter over his 19-year career, batted .300 or better 14 times.
Paul Blair was born on Tuesday, February 1, 1944, in Cushing, Oklahoma. Blair was 20 years old when he broke into the big leagues on September 9, 1964, with the Baltimore Orioles.
